Ukraine will join the EU roaming zone
The head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, in her annual State of the Union address to the European Parliament, announced that Ukraine would join the EU roaming zone.
“We will bring Ukraine into our European roaming free zone. Time to do it,” she said.
After the EU-Ukraine Association Council following the September 5 meeting, the EU stressed its commitment to explore the possibilities of a long-term agreement on the abolition of roaming charges between the EU and Ukraine.
In April, mobile operators from the EU and Ukraine signed a joint statement confirming their intention to cooperate to provide affordable or free roaming between the EU and Ukraine. EC representative Katarina Maternova noted that this could be one of the first bases for a future roaming agreement between Ukraine and the EU.
