First transgender in the Miss Universe pageant
For the first time in the history of the Miss Universe contest, one of the participants will be a transgender.
In November, 26-year-old Angela Ponce from Seville, who used to be a man, will represent the Philippines and Spain.
Previously, there was a ban on participation in the contest for transgender people, but the organizers lifted it in 2012.
Ponce already has a regional crown. She took part in the Miss World Spain contest, where she represented her province.
